Vannessa Oldland

Welcome to second grade! My name is Vannessa Oldland, and I am so excited to be your teacher this year.  I have been teaching at North Charleston Elementary for 3 years.  I feel like NCES is where I am meant to be! I am happily married to my husband Daniel.  We currently reside in Goose Creek, SC.
I am a teacher who is dedicated to your child’s success! I will do whatever it takes to make sure your child is engaged in the learning process. We all have different ways of learning. Some of us are visual and learn by watching demonstrations, looking at pictures, and taking notes in color. Some of us are auditory and learn by listening and discussing a topic. Some of us are kinesthetic and we learn by doing activities related to a subject. All three modalities are used in my class to reinforce learning, and memory.  There is a family-type atmosphere in our room.  We support each other by focusing on our strengths and building each other up with kind words. We support each other by celebrating our learning and growth.  It’s OK to make mistakes because they can help us be successful if we learn from them.
With that being said, second grade is an important year at North Charleston Elementary.  I am thrilled to be able to help your child during this year.  Please feel free to reach out to me at any time with regards to your child's academic performance.  I am here to support your child, and make sure they are learning to their best potential!  Please feel free to contact me at anytime, or stop by room 159 and check out the amazing learning opportunities that are taking place. I look forward to having a great year filled with learning, fun, laughter, math, reading, writing, music, art, science, social studies, and most of all, success!
